Wheels and Brakes

45 fin Buick brake drums

Kinda ugly, aren't they...Ford juice brake backing plates.

This is a pedal assembly from a mid fifties Ford Truck.

I welded a new shaft to the clutch pedal, as it goes right through to the other side. I then made a pivot for the clutch rod.

Then I mocked up the location for the pedal, and the Swedish shifter! Please note 4 X 4 wood for seat "simulator" !

I guess right about there...

Yup, that's it.

All painted it looks good. I also drilled holes and installed for grease zerks on each side.

Rear brakes are late model job, ensuring function and a good e-brake.

I am using 1966 Impala brake cables.

I positioned the brake handle where I wanted it...

...and then I made these extension. Works great.

Christmas?? Well, almost. Nothing like hanging clean painted or chrome parts on your frame.

I am using aftermarket hubs, it is a no brainer...no machining, just bolt on.

With the hubs installed, I had the drums machined, and the new brake shoes "radioused" to fit the drums.

The old Ford brakes are not the best, so I am using high friction material on the linings.

Wheels

Ford 16 inch wheels.

I am using 7:50 in the rear, 6:00 for the front.
